Maroone to honor high school scholar athletes in South Florida

By Mallory Colliflower, AutoNation on Tuesday, September 28, 2010

If selling cars was all we ever did, we wouldn’t feel like we were doing our part. Did you know that since 1997, Maroone and AutoNation have committed over $30 Million to local charities and organizations? We are dedicated to helping the South Florida community become a better place to live and show off the people who make it great.

Maroone has teamed up with 560 WQAM Sports Radio to bring you the action from your favorite local high school teams, both on the web and over the airwaves. Through the remainder of the school year, Maroone will highlight South Florida’s scholar athletes who shine on the field (or the court, or the track) and in the classroom.

Do you know someone who fits the bill? Submit your nominations and each month one student will be selected by a panel as the Maroone High School Scholar Athlete of the Month. Each winner’s school will receive a $1,000 donation on their behalf. At the end of the school year, our panel will choose a Maroone High School Scholar Athlete of the Year and make a $5,000 donation to their school in their name. Visit highschool.wqam.com for complete contest rules.

Log on to WQAM.com to listen live to all your favorite sports talk shows, including the Maroone High School Gridiron Report with Larry Blustein, South Florida’s authority on high school football.

Join us on Facebook and Twitter where we’ll share updates and reminders about what’s hot in high school sports, as well as car maintenance tips, ways to keep your teenager safe on the roads and more.
